Welcome to my Blog! The Life of Gus.Thanks for visiting my page.
I am Angus White, a 17 year old from rural Kent with a passion for music. Those who know me, probably know that music is the biggest thing in my life.
When I started this blog, I didn’t intend it to become all things music. But a year on, that’s what it has become, with Interviews, Gig reviews, Album reviews and so much more. This project has helped me develop my style and get in-touch with other writers, which has consequently led to me becoming a writer for Indie Central Music, a site who write about all things indie. Check it out the link is in the Menu on the right.
More about me and music; My first gig was Wolf Alice in March 2016, which was sort of the light-bulb moment and when everything started to change. I’d been a fan of many Indie Rock bands in the year before I attended the Wolf Alice gig but Wolf Alice kicked everything off. Since then, my taste has developed and I have become a big fan of The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, Arctic Monkeys, Sundara Karma, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Wolf Alice to name a few. I have been able to discover the huge collection of emerging bands within the scene such as; Blaenavon, The Big Moon, Will Joseph Cook and the list goes on. I also have a place in my heart for the bands of the late 20th Century; including the likes of The Stone Roses, The Smiths and Oasis.
Despite many bands choosing to opt out of a date in Kent on tour, this mainly due to not having a many venues dedicated to music. Yet I am lucky enough to be part of a blossoming music scene producing political punk rockers, Slaves and as well as many emerging bands such as Glass Peaks and Native People. Hopefully this will help more bands become attracted to Kent. However, the lack of venues in my local area is starting to change, with the Folkestone Quarterhouse and The Booking Hall in Dover have rejuvenated the live music scene in Kent.
That’s all from me for now. Hope you guys enjoy the content and discover many new bands from this blog. I’m always looking out to do reviews for gigs, Albums and singles etc and Interviews, so if you’re a band, get in touch (at email@example.com) or drop me a message on Instagram (@_lifeofgus)
